I would like to personally invite you to attend and participate in the 75th Annual Iowa NAPUS State Convention.  This landmark event will begin Saturday, May 1st and conclude on Monday, May 3rd, 2010, at The Lodge, 900 Spruce Hills Drive, in Bettendorf, IA.  Yes, the dates are correct.  With the loss of convention leave the Iowa Chapter is taking the opportunity to restructure the entire convention. This event will allow you to be a part of Iowa NAPUS history.  Let’s take a look at the tentative schedule and see what the NAPUS board has planned for you.

Day 1 of the 2010 convention begins on Saturday.  The registration table opens at 10:00 a.m. and will remain open until 5:30 p.m.  The afternoon is filled with training sessions from 1:00 - 5:00.  This year’s training will include training for PMRs.  The training will also include postal and non-postal breakouts.  The evening will begin with a pizza party at 6:30 followed by numerous activities.

Day 2 of the 2010 convention continues on Sunday.  The registration table will be open at 7:30 a.m. and remain open until noon.  A worship service has been planned for 8:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service. During our busy schedules it is critical that we take the time to reflect on what is important in life and the people we have worked so closely with.

Opening ceremonies will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. preceding the morning business session.  Lunch will be provided at noon followed by a short afternoon business session.  At approximately 2:30 p.m. the board is planning a session with the MPOOs.  Our tentative plan is for a forum with a moderator.   Additional training will continue throughout the afternoon in a large group setting.  Retirees will also be meeting at 1:30 p.m. for their annual meeting.

The second day of convention concludes in a social setting beginning at 6:00 p.m.   The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by the annual PAC auction.  From 9:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. the chapter is hosting a dance.

Day 3 of the 2010 convention concludes on Monday.   At 8:00 a.m. a short business session will begin the day in preparation for additional training sessions.  These morning seminars will be offered from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.  At 11:45 a.m. a noon luncheon has been planned along with a guest speaker.

The convention will conclude with an afternoon business session.  At this assembly the chapter will address any unfinished business and conduct elections for a new President and Vice-President.

This new format is in response to the numerous suggestions received during the Fall District Tour.  Your input was well received and as you can see was utilized in planning the 2010 convention.
